The Most Interesting Woman

The first thing you might notice is that she is petite. It is an obvious fact, one that she has had to contend with all her life, not being able to reach the top shelf, not getting the respect in front of a classroom full of beefy football players, and not having a full selection in the women’s clothing department.

Probably the next thing you might notice is how alert she is, watchful, fully awake, noticing the small things, a perfect match to her gift of listening.

Interesting, as I visualize her posture I see that her arms are bent forward, hands limp at the wrist, but ready for action, quick to gesture or quicker to serve food or drink, or to take your burdens from your hands.

I rarely see her relaxed, she is either moving, working, busy at life, or at the end of the day, eventually, she is totally collapsed. A mid-day break might be arranged but she will carry several bags of books or papers to peruse. It’s not that she doesn’t want to relax, she just can’t if there are things to be done, so you might as well bring it along, even if only a few lines are read.

She is the most interesting woman in the world, and the love of my life.
