    I accidentally met him. He was retired and I went to interview him about the California Trail. He wrote the best sellers of the Donner Party. When I got there he asked if I wanted him to autograph “that little book”. I was confused and asked what book. “Earth Abides!” I didn’t know! My favorite book of all time.
